The TellersQuest was an experiment in writing for Twitter. It was first published on Twitter in serial form, 140 characters maximum at a time. Set in the universe of the saga of The Storyteller's Quest, the story takes place in Avan some time before what happens in the first book of the saga, The Reaches.
The episodes
1. The Girl
2. Questons
3. The Pedant
4. Amateur Thief
Note: There is no mistake in the numbering here. This is the order in which the episodes should be read.
6. Bush Dance 5. Trapped
Note: New experiment in style with episode 7: denser, harder, but more open, full of elipses, offering multiple story possibilities in one tweet.
7. Manoeuvres
8. About Town
9. Chaos
10. Junk yard
Note: I changed the numbering system in Chapter 10 to reflect the practice of using hashtags on Twitter to tag key words and to make it easier to follow the story through the unending flow of tweets.
11. The Department
Note: It's at this point that the story slips gaily off the rails, so make sure you have sufficient life insurance coverage and keep some sea-sickness pills handy. If you are faint-hearted you might do well to think twice before proceeding further.
12. A clash of wills
13. On the run
14. Hidden parts
Note: During episode fourteen, I began writing a new novel based on the Tellers Quest. In the writing the novel has become considerably different. As a result of being both at the beginning and at the middle of a story that was once the same but is now different, if you follow me, the whole exercise can get a bit confusing. I continually have to remind myself which story I'm in, and, no, she doesn't know that yet!
15. Puzzled pieces (unfinished)
Note: I ceased the TellersQuest experiment at this point as I began a complete re-write of the material as the starting point of my fifth novel, code-named Story Five. |
